Project goal

Objective of this research project is a study of novel method of hydrolytic oxidation for nanocellulose isolation from renewable biomass sources and residues of its processing, as well as the following adaption of the obtained nano-products for reinforcing of innovative bio-nanocomposites.

Tasks of the project proposal are:

  • study a novel process of hydrolytic oxidation of biomass samples and their residues having different structure and chemical compositions;
  • development of novel and efficient method for simultaneous delignification and  hydrolytic oxidation of lignocellulose in order to isolate cellulose nanofibrils directly from lignified plant materials;  
  • optimization of the novel method for obtaining and testing of the obtained nanofibrils samples for model biocomposites  with potential applications in various industries

Novel principal technological scheme of obtaining nanocellulose due its cost-effectiveness caused by reduced consumption of oxidant, water and energy predictably will gain attention of producers and thereby high potential of commercialization.
