Support the following post-doctoral researchers’ applications and forward its to the next selection round in the measure 1.1.1.2 “Post-doctoral Research Funding” in the framework of the 1.1.1. specific support objective “To Increase Research and Innovation Capacity of Scientific Institutions of Latvia and their Ability to Attract External Funding by Investing in Human Resources and Infrastructure” within the Operational Programme “Growth and Employment”:

Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC) announces the opening of the competition for preliminary selection of post-doctoral applications for submission to the State Education Development Agency (SEDA) for the project call for the Activity 1.1.1.2 “Post-doctoral Research Aid” of the Specific Aid Objective 1.1.1 “To increase the research and innovative capacity of scientific institutions of Latvia and the ability to attract external financing, investing in human resources and infrastructure” of the Operational Programme “Growth and Employment”

 

The aim of the pre-selection competition of postdoctoral researchers’ applications at the LSIWC is to select post-doctoral researchers for preparing of research applications and implementation of research applications, according to the research programme of the Institute.

 

LSIWC studies on wood and biomass are multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, and connected with different scientific disciplines – wood science, materials science, wood and polymer chemistry and technology, mycology, microbiology, biotechnology, environment science, etc. The work is organized in several laboratories, whose studies embrace the following topics: eco-effective conversion of biomass, cellulose, lignin chemistry, polysaccharides, biotechnology and bioengineering, biodegradation and protection, technological research of biorefinery, polymers and biocomposites.

   

Duration of the competition: from 29.09.2016 to 31.10.2016.

 

Post-doctoral researcher may submit the application:
in person – the secretariat of the Institute, Dzerbenes iela 27, Riga from 10.00 to 17.00;
by post at the address – Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, Dzerbenes iela 27, Riga LV-1006, Latvia.


A post-doctoral researcher who is a researcher from Latvia or from another country and who has been awarded the doctoral degree not more than five years before the deadline of the submission of the post-doctoral research funding application is eligible for participation in the pre-selection (the time period can be prolonged until two years if the person has reasonable grounds: parental leave or temporary incapacity for work).

The results of the preliminary selection of post-doctoral applications will be published on the website of the LSIWC and announced to the post-doctoral researcher by sending the information using the type of the communication indicated in the application.
